The Highs and Lows of Boots

Let’s accept it—purchasing a pair of boots is never cheap. However, they are an absolute essential element to the stylish young woman’s wardrobe, especially in the chilly winter months that are now on the horizon. Whether price isn’t an issue or you’re on a tight budget, here are some suggestions for filling out your footwear in the coming season.

The Sleek Black Boot

These boots beg for you to strut down the city streets in them, and are a must-have because they’re so versatile. They’re just as flattering worn over a pair of skinny pants as they are worn with a dress. La Canadienne’s “Blanche” boot sacrifices no style or comfort, has a side zipper and a 1½” heel, and goes for $264.00. For a similar style that won’t break the bank, check out Mootsies Tootsies’ “Eclissi” for $46.00.

Boots With the Fur

For the cold months, these are absolutely necessary. They look adorable with scarves, mittens, and hats with ear flaps, and can be worn comfortably with jeans or with tights and a skirt. If you’ll be braving through any snow this winter, The North Face offers “Adrianne II,” a weather and water-proof boot for $190.00. For the less heavy-duty version, check out Sketcher’s “Grand Jams-Unlimited” knee-high boot for $80.00.

Rainy Day Boots

Who would have ever imagined that the hideous, bright yellow rain boots we all hoped and prayed our mothers wouldn’t force us to wear could transform into such a powerful fashion statement? These days, you can get all shades, patterns, and sizes of stylish rain boots. The most irresistible pair I’ve come across is Ed Hardy’s “Ranie” boot, which features a knit cuff top, pom poms, and a beautiful pattern of swirling goldfish for $107.95. A more affordable style is available at Target for $24.99.

Crochet Boots

The thing that’s so awesome about these boots is that no matter where you go, it feels like you’re still at home, snuggled up and warm. Even though they are amazingly comfortable, it doesn’t make them any less pleasing to the eye. Check out Ugg’s “Suburb Crochet” boot for $184.00 or Gabriella Rocha’s “Cutie Pie” for $55.00. Both are sure to keep your feet nice and toasty.
